Emne: English guy after help... Sendt: 27-Februar-2011 kl. 10:18 |
Hi
I hope someone can help, just that being English I am unsure of the small print in my boxer contract.
I got a letter saying 299 DKK for an extra card for my sons room, when I rang boxer it went up another 499 for a box. My question to you guys is should I buy the box from boxer or can somebody recommend one, maybe with a HDD recorder. I am scared of buying my own and finding it dont work on my boxer card!
Thanks
Rich

If you want to Recive the enceypted signals from Boxer, then basicly only Recivers aproved by the provider can be used. There are several aproved recivers: http://www.boxertv.dk/kundeservice/teknik-og-udstyr/boxer-godkendt-udstyr/godkendte-digitale-modtagerbokse/ some of them have PVR, either via an external HDD or built in. There are allso a range of approved TV´s, for that you need a CA module http://www.boxertv.dk/produkter/Modtagerudstyr/ other non approved recivers are able to use the same module, but they are generally more expensive. And yes we do have to pay (a lot IMHO) for reciving TV here i Denmark we only have 6 FTA channels, so it is not like in the UK, where you have a lot of free channels on sattelite and Terrestial.

Hi Radiomanden
Yes, compared to UK, TV here is VERY expensive...quite shocking actually, but with only 5 million people..!
But if yr interested, I sometimes stream many channels from the UK, such as BBC iPlayer, ITV1,2,3,4, Channel 4, 5 by using an IP VPN to a UK company..total cost of 45 DKK per month. Do you think any others on this forum would be interested ..? And no... I am not a salesman..I live and work here as an Engineering Manager! On moving here though I signed up to a boxer deal costing 99DKK per month for about 8-9 channels, but it is only in one room, and my son being 13 is making demands :-)...so when I saw this extra card deal for 299 I was tempted.. but add 499 and then cabling etc etc,,,it starts to add up.. plus when I eventually get the upstairs built I want TV up there... so is that another 1000? Was wondering about signing up to a complete cable package and flood wiring the house.. but I think I would have to sell my kidneys to pay for it :-) Redigeret af rich0148 - 27-Februar-2011 kl. 11:36 |

If you or your son does not need to record tv, the simplest solution is to buy the set-top-box from Boxer. I have the same model. As long as your signal reception is ok, it works fine.
As Radiomanden said, if you choose a model approved by Boxer, then it works. You can not be sure that other models will work. There are set-top-boxes on the market in DK with no card reader, do not get one of thoose if you want to use it with a Boxer card. |

I have allmost the full spread of UK channels via my SKY subscription, and it is cheaper than Cable TV.
If you want to go cheaper on using Boxer, or any other provider, then use a Card splitter, then you need only one subscribtion card, The card splitter unit is around DKK 1500 i think, so that will save you some money. A unit like that is at least for now legal to use.

Go to www.skycards.eu they will provide you with what you need, a UK address and a SKY+HD Reciver. It is possible even on Sjælland to Recive most of the SKY Channels with a 60-80 Cm dish, the only channels i don´t have is BBC 1,2,3,4, as they are only on the Astra 2D sattelite, but with a HD subscription and the right Region set up on the Reciver there is no problem with ITV 1,2,3,4 and Five, Channel4 and all the other Terrestial channels, and most of the SKY channels.
As for the Card splitter, there are other members of the Forum that knows more about it than i do.

Not that I want to advertise Boxer, but how is a DKK 1500 card splitter cheaper than a Boxer Extra card. The DKK 299 plus STB is a one time fee, when you already have a subscribtion. There has been a monthly fee involved, but that changes march 14. |

On March 15 Boxer will stop charging an extra fee for having so called "extra cards". Instead Boxer will allow you to watch your paid TV channels on up to three different TVs simultaneously. You do, however, have to pay for each individual card (300 DKK) in order to do so. You only have to pay for each card once, of course. Due to various reasons Boxer will not allow you to have more than three "extra cards" per subscription. Naturally, you are able to move the cards between your different TVs - and you will always have access to the Public Service channels without installing a card in your TV.
