hi, first, i am sorry that i don't type proper danish...

and i am looking for help. here is my stuff

1. MB: Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-US2H (onboard graphic card - ATI Radeon HD3200)

2. tv card: Terratec Cinergy C PCI (DVB-C-modtager)DVB-C + Viaccess

3. OS: windows Vista

4. TV: Pioneer 5090H

I have everything installed. the PC works fine normally. But when i try to watch TV (using Cinergy software), i have several problem:

1. if watching "free to air" TV content, e.g. TV2, the image is flickering all the time. it looks like some problem with decoding.

2. if watching "scrambled" TV content (i do have a subscription
), e.g. CNN. the image starts for 2-3 sec, and goes completely dead.

so, are there any special configurations i should pay attention to?I am using all default setup of the software, and the screen resolution is 1280*960

Flickering normally means poor signal...

How is the quality af your signal?

Using signal splitter?

Quality af antenna cable?

thanks for reply.

i do have a splitter (done by the previous apartment owner).  actually, I do need that as i have a tv in my bedroom (the one in question is in the living room)

the cable i am using is "default thing" from the TV-box (I have a samsung tv-box rent from you see and plan to stopping using that).

so, what can i do to improve the quality, apart from buying a new cable?(you have a recommended brand?)

Try a setup where the splitter temparay is not used...

If your computer/software then is working OK, then maybee you have use an amplifier... (or better cable)

You might also wanna look at your CAM. The scenario you describe with the 3 seconds of video and then black screen, is often seen if you use a poor quality CAM.

I've had great success using Smit CAMS as the hardware and firmware seem to be more reliable than eg SCM branded CAMS.

As avh  says, it can't hurt to have a look at your wiring. Coax is a very robust cable if used correctly. This means all coax endpoints not in use needs to be terminated properly either by AV equipment or standard F-Termination. Make sure that you use wire with a good shield and that you use f-connectors where it is possible.

NEVER use these:

Use These instead:

pfreedom:

the F-Termination unit looks like this:

Any store that sells satellite dishes should have it in stock. You can find all you need here

Also your CAM looks like a Smit CAM so you should be allright with that.

I don't have that much experience with Terratec Tuners and I can't say if there could be a software(at driver or at frontend level) problem that causes decryption to malfunction.

There are several users on this forum that uses Terratec Tuners, one beeing "Cyberguyen". He can probably help you with CAM(SoftCAM) related problems.

Also do note that the software that comes with TV-Tuners often is Crap. My advice would be to get DVBviewer for your particular tuner.

I think I am too positive...

actually, The problem is " 90% " resolved.

after running DVBviewer a while. i still found some image problems with HD channels. when i watch HD channels, it seems like i am playing a scratched DVD. I don't know how to describe this....

I guess it's related to decoding, but don't know how to deal with that.

What decoder do you use?

Graphics:  resoulution and refreshrate?
